Hello emeetings!! I'm so happy to start with this blog again.i really missed it!..

..As you had red, some weeks ago we had a really special journey.
Everithing started when miss Alina brought to the calss the song "Anything but ordinary" by Avril Lavigne. And we all reallized that all of us wanted to be like that...or we should, 'cause that's what will always make us be different in life,special and original...We had to reallized what was wrong in us and take that out.Take out those attitudes that won't make us better persons and try to include new goals...
One day miss Alina told us to writ a Bucket List. It is a list where we write 10 resolutions for this year.
So to be original an do something new at school, she gave the idea to plant a tree, and in the same tree's hole put owr lists, and at the end of the year take out again the papers and see if we could achieved all owr aims.
The day we have done taht, we had invited to the level's B studients to do the same as us.The invitation also had the propousse to share them that they can go foward with their english..

It's a really unforgotable day!!

Hello e-meetings! I am here writing because I'm going to tell you a little about our English project, that was really funny and with a good purpose!One day our class, and also our classmates of level A had to write personally on a piece of paper a Bucket List. This was a list of 10 things that we wanted to do during this year. We wrote the list, and then we put it in a plastic bag, and then we made a hole in the ground and we put the bag in there and thennext to it we planted a tree . We planted this tree because we wanted to give something special to our school, and also because we wanted to put there our wishes, aims, and objectives and at the end of the year, we are going to take our bucket list out, and we are going to read them and see if we colud achieve our purposes.

This was miss Alina's idea, and I really think that it was fantastic. This are some ideas that we never did before, and it`s really interesting . It is important because this is our last year at school and we all want to leave something special for it, and a tree is a beautiful gift. I like this tree because It represent life, now it`s a small one, like us... We all are between 16 and 18 years old but we are still young, we are teenagers and we have a lot of time left to grow up, to mature, to learn, to have fun. Like with this tree, in days, months and years this tree is going to grow up, to be bigger and bigger, to change his colour, to lose his leaves and then to have it again.. A whole life is waiting for this tree.. just like us. In this morning we also did other activities that were very funny! We separated the two classes in four groups and we played differents games, like Say it with sign language, pictionary, Taboo, and one that we had to say words about some topics with special letters. After these games, we had a special reunion where we ate, but before doing this we had a toast were some classmates said some words about our last year at school, our morning, friendship, teachers... it was very nice.To finish our activities we had a very funny karaoke party! we all sang songs in English.. but i have to admit that it was a disaster! We werent professional singers.. but it was the funiest activity!

Miss Alina, I hope we repeat these activities...!!! We really had a great time, Thank You! like always!!Martu =)

last week we had a special day in our English class. We prepared breakfast, we played games and we burried our resolutions for the year next to a tree we planted, and we had such a wonderful day. Now I only have to have a child and to write a book to be complete in my life. I really enjoyed the day, singing karaoke and playing the taboo. I think we should have activities like this more frecuently. I think we can be a little more organized, but the idea and the effort is what matters. I also suggest doing only-english-speaking classes to learn to express more fluently. I wish we can soon have another day like that.

....From the beginning it was a different idea, its first aim was to make us think about our purposes for this year... it was a fantastic idea that will be concluded when we plant "OUR TREE"

The MEANING of the TREE....

This has to show us that as IT grows up we have to look after and feed it... We have to do the same thing with our projects and dreams for our life, and we have to enrich them! ... we never have to give up! ... by doing this we will certainly find happiness in our lives!!!

HeLLo! I'm so happy to start with the blog again! I want to keep showing you the things that with do in our English class, and the things that we have planned for this, our last year at high school.
Well, I have not much to say about the open day that we had had, because my partners had already told you it, detail by detail.

But what what I cannot let emphasize is that I felt very proud and happy because althoug we could learn and share with each other every thing in every minute, the day help us to join more us one class, what we were really needing.
Every day, I feel that I am more and more proud of my class and my teacher, and that I love you more and more.

I hope that you feel the same too! and that this beautiful day can be repeated! and that the resolutions that we have planned for this year, can all come true, of course!

Open Air Class -"Our Bucket List"

Everything started such as a simple idea after Miss Alina had watched a film...And she thought about us and as she said, she wanted us to be special and make difference in the school.

The first day at school we listen to Avril Laving's song "Everything but Ordinary" and we all reallized that all of us wanted to be like that...or we should, 'cause that's what will always make us be different in life,special and original...We had to reallized what was wrong in us and take that out.Take out those attitudes that won't make us better persons and try to include new goals...That was Miss Alina's aim, and after she'd told me, also mine.

Then we thougt that it was also interesting to share this kind of activities with our classmates from the other level, as we're all from the 08' prom, and make that day different.

So,last thursday each one wrote in a paper 10 resolutions for this 2008(our last year at school), put all of them in a bucket and buried it with a beautiful tinny tree in the school playground...it was an emotional situation, we sang the school song and also another songs.

Then started the time for the games!We had been divided into four groups, each one had to pass from different challenges or games such as Tabou, Brain Booster or "Mercadito". Then we shared an informal banquet and toast and at the end we had karaoke time!!!

It was a wonderful day, i really enjoy it!I think that this kind of activities make us share more things as a group and encreases our friendship among each other.

Our intention is to dig up the bucket at the end of the year and find out if we could fulfil our resolutions...and if we couldn't keep on trying and never ever give up...

I hope to make my resolutions came true...and to share more moments like this one with my classmates and teacher 'cause this makes me feel not only happy but also proud and gay of having this friends and oportunities!!

Open Class Feedback!

As you can see, these are two pictures that both were taken during our amazing English classes (all the credit belongs to Miss Alina). The one on top is from last year (the date in there is wrong :s) and the one bellow is the picture that perfectly describes our open class day! When we were suddenly 48 students joined in only ONE GROUP! I hope that we continue like that picture shows all the year long! I mean, we are all together in one photograph, now, can we all be together to rich our last year's school goals?? It's a great challenge, but it doesn't make it impossible, right? So let's give it a shot!

Something that it's not dificult to notice (at all) is the number of people between both! -Of course that in the first one, there are a lot of students missing, but not so many-. So, it can clearly represent the change that just a bit more than an hour could do! We were all together, playing and learning! The best combination ever, don't you think??

I felt like we were really "toasting for a change", that we were having a great time without taking notice of the obstacules that came across this year to get along well! Impressive that just some cakes and games can join us without any heartfeelings, huh? ;)

Anyway, I hope that we can do it again!! I really enjoyed it! So Miss Alina, thank you for let this class be "anything but ordinary"!! ;)

I am going to try to make an effort and try to do a small post of the great day that we had last Tuesday...

First we met in the quincho and formed the groups with that we are going to play during all the games

Then we go out and we start with the games.. My group has to play the TABOU against the group 4.. Fortunately we won for a great difference

Finished the first game we plant the tree together with our buckets lists in which we put ours 10 objectives for the year...

Then we returned to the quincho to eat some cookies and to drink coke

While we eat this, miss alina gave us a few mathematical operations.

Finally come the game more entertaining that all were waiting for. .. The KARAOKE..

We made our own bucket lists ....

We thought about them very well... ( 10 resolutions for the whole year were written)

So..when we all finished the resolutions we thought about a project...

Our 10 resulutions (each per person) being burried with a tree in the backyard of our school...

During the year we should fight to make them to come true...

At the end of the year we unburry our bucket lists and see if we have avhieved the resolutions .. and if not, we keep on fighting to make them became real actions!

We are going to be able to see our tree grow as the year goes by...

We can say that it represents all of us as a person who did their best to learn about life ... while also learning english in class....

Feedback of the Open Class:

The day before we all were in agreement that the boys had to bring salty food or something to drink and the girls had to bring delicious pies or cakes .. or at least somenthing sweet they could buy at the drugstore..Finally the day came and we ( the organizers ) prepared a lot of games that became challenges for all of the groups..

Mocha said some words before we started playing:

" This project started as a task from our teacher but later it expanded its limits and reached all of the 3rd of polimodal.Our lives only make sense when we have goals to fight and live for. This is not enoug though, we need to help each other to achieve our goals.This open class was organized to learn from each other, to pass our knowledge to you, and of course yours to us.

Welcome! Have fun! Enjoy it!..WE ALL DESERVE A FRESH START!"

The games :

- Brain boosters...It was really very difficult .. only smart ones could figure out the answer!

- Say it with mimics: everyone got crazy to find out what they were saying! haha

- Karaoke: It was great! At last this game was not played by each group but we all sang different songs like "Anything but Ordinary" by Avril Lavigne, that was the main song of this project ( read the lyrics and find it out!) and also another one that we can't remember the name..While drinking and eating like pigs ( haha) we went out to burry our "big" tree!! It was a moment we'll not forget! We threw first all the bucket lists and then filled the hole ...After that, we suggested making a tost for all that the things we had shared that morning and for us to keep on learning while having fun!

Last Tuesday Miss Alina had the idea of organizing a recreative day with both English's levels in order to share one day all together speaking only english.

I think it was a really good idea to share one day together,playing english`s games that we had invent and later we share a breakfast alltogether.

Also we plant a tree in which we bury the achievements for this year.

The part that I like most was when we sing songs with the karaoke. it was really funny.

In conclusion it was a very nice day I hope that could be more mornings like that along the year.

KEEP MOVING FORWARD !!!

Well the school year is over and I wanted you all to know it was a pleasure for me to have you all as my students. For me it was a fantastic experience, an amazing ride. We did have our ups and downs, but it was wonderful all the way through. You are all in my heart, you are my true heroes, remember that.
The other day I saw "Meet the Robinsons" with my kids and I thought of you. We made
a world of difference with all the new things we did. It was a great challenge for both you and me but anyway we gave it a try.
We dared to move forward!!!!. I wanted to share the video clip with you all. The little boy in the story dared to be different and try new things and in the end the whole world`s future depended on him.

So this is my message for you, my heroes,:"Keep moving forward! " and remember that "Sometimes you are ahead and sometimes you are behind, but stand up and keep on moving forward, never, ever, give up!!!!!

LOOKING FOR SIMILARITEIS

In lord of the flies and in lost are a lot of similarities , like Jack that was a very important person in the book and in the serie too but the diference is that in the book Jack is a bad person and in the serie Jack is a very good person who try to help all the person.
Other similaritei is the question about who is the leader, in the book Jack and ralph want to be the leader and in the serie Jack , John and sawyer want to be the leader.

In both they look FOR water to survive and look FOR save place where they are safe from the beast in the book and from the others in the serie

Other thing is that in the serie and in the book there was a person who like hunting and want every day hunt , in the book is Jack and in the serie is Locke

in the book there was a problem when the group separate in two group, one stay in castle rock and the Other went to the mountain, and in lost when the group separate some of they stay in the beach and others went to the cave.

This year, in our class, we were able to read Lorf of the flies and see the TV serie LOST. There are many ways in which Lost is indebted to Lord of the Flies.Firstly, the characters in both first arrived by a plane crash and they landed on a deserted island, where they feel they are constantly under the threat of turning wild.
In Lord of the Flies, one of the main character's/leader's name is Jack, just as in Lost. But if you consider it character-wise, Jack in Lost is more like Ralph in the book, because of his calm personality that invites the other's trust. Both leaders, have their own assistants who accompany and support them; in one case is Hurley, and in the other, Piggy.

In the novels, there are two players: one is light and one is dark, determinating the sentiment that there are two sides, good and evil. In Lord of the flies, during the day the children are happy and laugh and play, but when the dark falls, the fear of the stranger invades them.
Food is important too. In both Lost and Lord of the Flies, wild boar is the main (even only) source of meat and those who hunt it receive special recognition.
In addition, in the show Lost, as in the book Lord of the Flies, the fear of an anonymous monster or beast takes over the survivors. In both stories the fear of a beast makes most of the camp scared of the forest and they choose to stay on the beach to avoid it.
Appart, one of the central points of Lord of the Flies is a critique on human society and human nature. It can be equally argued that this is a central point of the TV show Lost.
Well, finally we can mention some other similarities like the men parachuting onto the island similar to the man who parachuted onto the island in Lord of the flies, the importance of glasses (Piggy's used for making fire in book; Sawyer's , used to read), the character with asthma (Piggy and Shannon) and the accidental murders by confusion (Shannon and Simon).

As the TV show Lost continues, I have no doubt that more and more similarities between it and William Golding's classic novel will appear.

During this last months we have been reading the book "Lord of the flies", and we can see that this book has a lot of similarities with the serie "Lost". Some characters of the book are very similar to the characters of the serie.

First af all, the storys take place in an island, were is something that scares to the survivors. In the serie the survivors are afraid of "the others" and in the book the children are afraid of the darkness and of the "beast". In the two islands they have to build their shelters, get their food and water, and the most important try to survive and be rescute.

Secondly, in both storys are leaders of the groups. In "Lord of the flies" Ralph is the chief of the group and in "Lost" is Jack, we can fins similarities in this two because thay are always interestin of the others, and they two have oppositors, in one is John Locke and Saywer, and in the other is Jack. This persons are allways opposed the chief's orders.

Other character is piggy, a child who is always helping to his leader, like Hurley. they have done a list with the name of the survivors and they are fat.

An other similarity is that the fear in both case, has cost some lifes. In the serie Shannon is shoot by Ana Lucia, in the book Simon is killed.

This two storys show that human beings need limits, and rules to survive in a comunity; and show the savage part of every person in an extrem situation.

Comparison between "Lord Of The Flies" and "Lost"

We have finished reading lord of the flies, and so we can find a lot of similarities with the series Lost.
Both show the actitudes of survival that human beings have in this extreme situations..

We can compare Ralph with Jack as they both are the leaders or chief of the group of people in the island, also Jack Merridew with John Locke or Sawyer as they opposed all time to the opinions, rules and orders established by their chiefs.

In Lord of the Flies the children are afraid of the beast and darkness, in Lost they're afraid of "the others"...this fear took the characters to act in a savage way like killing Simon because they thought he was the beast and on the other hand took Ana Lucia to kill Shanon because she thought she was one of the others.

We can find in both situations the people trying to get water, build some shelters, get food, know each other making a list of the ones who are there etc.
It's possible to compare all the time all the actitudes of the characters of the book with the ones of the serie...like Jack M. and Locke trying to hunt, Hurley and Piggy helping their leaders, ralph and Jack thinking of the other ones, etc
This shows that in this kind of situations some people look after the good of all the group but another just only the good of them selfs...but anyway, they try to survive!

I truely loved the movie... It makes me realise the way teachers can strongly interact in their students lives, I mean this honorable teacher could notice that those students couldn't learn anything because they were too worried trying to stay alive when they were out of school, on the streets or at home (if they had one). So the teacher managed to combine literature with human integration with a unique way and that plan turn out really good! All the races that were in the class turned into a really close family. By just one game ("the line game") she showed the students that they had a lot of things in common, apart from their origin and color skin. She risked her own personal life in order to make those hopeless students grow up with an excellent level of literature and with their own personal diary. She gave them hope, faith and the strong belief that, no matter what other people say or the obstacles they have to pass through, THEY STILL CAN DO IT! And that was exactly what they needed. She made them change their negative point of view to turn it into an optimistic one, into a hopeful belief that they can change the strong violence between races; they toasted for a change!

I think she's a heroin as all those kids are (like the old lady of the "Diary of Anne Frank" said). I admire the people that give so much and risk such a lot of things in order to make other people succeed, the kind of people that have such a tight commitment with their work and can make the world better by doing it with love, passion and hope.

The film I saw a few days ago, introduced me into the real world of our society today. It caused in me a very deep impression about people of different cultures, colour and countries. they need to make GANGS to survive in the U.S.A.

The example given by the teacher Erin Grunwell is really fascinating, it shows us that if you really want something with all your heart and you really want to do that .. you CAN do it, you only have to trust in it and don´t give up at the first obstacle!...

This movie gives me a lot of Hope. People can change the WORLD if they want to!

We are all the same...! we are all humans and the colour of our skin, or the country we are from, or simply our origin is not a very good reason for violence and divisions in our society!

Well, I recommend you to watch this movie, 'cause it's really fantastic.

An Intruder

It was a summer night. The siblings were alone in the house because their parents had gone out to have dinner with some friends. Mike and Lucy were used to this situation, but that night was different, it was a dark, cloudy and wintry night.

After their parents had gone out, the children decided to look for a movie on TV. They couldn’t find anything interesting until they came across a new movie, about supernatural things that happened in their city.

The movie was in the most catching scene when suddenly they heard a noise, a very loud noise upstairs. They started to freak out, but despite this, they decided to go and have a look. They started going upstairs; the noise became louder and more constant. They reached the first floor and at that moment, they heard the noise clearly. It was going out of their parent’s room.

They slowly began walking towards the room. The noise became louder and louder.
When they reached the room they found large muddy steps on the floor. Mike took out a hunter knife and approached the bathroom, where the foot steps led to. There they found a little dwarf with large feet. It climbed onto the toilet and escaped breaking a glass window above the toilet.

When their parents came back home, Mike and Lucy told them the story about this strange visitor. But their parents didn’t believe the story and grounded them for playing with a knife, breaking the bathroom window and covering the carpet with mud.
They also told this story to their friends but they just thought they had had a bad dream.

It was an ordinary family like any other in Vancouver, Canada. It was a little family whose only son Nick, was turning 18. NIck was a very patriotic boy. Since his childhood, he wished to be an army member but his parents never imagined that one day, he would have the courage to turn into a soldier. After his 18th birthday he was allowed to join the army.

USA was in war, and Canada's president decided to help this country, sending soldiers for the combat. September, 20th was the day that cannadian soldiers will never forget. It was the day when this brave men went to the war to represent their country.

When they were sailing to the warplace, an enemy ship attacked them so they were out of the combatplace. Unfortunally all these soldiers lost their lifes.

2 weeks later, Nick's family recieved a letter telling them about their son's death. Every year, they go to the place where the ship sailed out. They were very sad because his son couldn't fihght for his nation like he wanted.

The Empty Box

One Friday afternoon, Zack and Kate were bored and, as it was a beautiful day, they went out to their backyard to play with their dog. When they went out, their eyes were astonished by a enormous empty box! They ran to the box and fought to get in first, and of course, awkwardly, Zack won, and Kate started crying... So, Zack decided to share the box with his little sister, so he got out and helped her in.
They spent the whole afternoon playing inside the empty box. When their mother got home and saw that they were not fighting and that they were having a great time together (that didn't happen usually, they were most of the time arguing or fighting) she just couldn't believe what she was looking. So she asked the babysitter how long they had been there, and what they were doing inside a box, and she told her that they had been there all afternoon and that she didn´t understand what they were up to.
It was getting late and the kids were still there! So Sarah (their mother) went out to look for them. They didn't want to get out, but anyway, Sarah forced them. She asked the kids what they were doing for such a long time inside the empty box and they told her that they were travelling all around the space.
So, that was the moment when Sarah realized that the box wasn't empty, that it was full of imagination.
This is a way to show us that sometimes we should keep things simple, and not try to look for explanations for everything. The kids could play with a toy that is not on sale: imagination.
So we should get something that calls our attention and just imagine what fantastic things can happen in there and you will see a whole new world! It doesn't matter how old we are, we just have to fill in the empty box.

The strange cardboard box

It was sunday morning, when my granny appeared in the livingroom with a huge cardboard box. It was the new tv's box, and she was going to through it away. But i had and incredible idea... I asked her to give it to me, so i can do something with it. I called my little sister, Shannon, and went outside, to play with my new box.

We were inside,when she imagined that it was a house, but i wanted it to be a car, we quarrelled for a long time about what the box was going to be, when suddenly it started to move violently. We tried to get out but we couldnt find the way out. All inside was dark, and it was impossible to escape. Later we saw a bright light, and we heard a terrified roar. I held on to Shannon's hands and she opened her eyes and cried: - A dinosaur!!!. -Lets run!! I told her scaredly. We ran as fast as we could, when we found a car. We got in and I drove escaping from the monster, but suddenly in front of us appeared a truck full of explosives. I swerved to my left at Shannon's gasp. But to my sorprise now, in front of us there was a very big breack wall that we couldn't avoid, so I hugged my sister and we both closed our eyes, waiting for the worst, but expecting the best.

Suddenly, I didn't heard any noice, or feel anything, I didn't understand what was going on, when i decided to open my eyes, I was in my bed, holding my blanket.

Everything was a dream... but when I got up, and went to my living room I saw my granny with a huge cardboard box... what is going to happen now??

the katrina hurricane
It was december 20th, he was waiting for his wife in the airport, she was in Paris for work. After a couple of hours waiting in the airoport, a flight has been cancelled because of a strong wind so he ran to his home predicting that it could be a hurricane. when he was at home he turned on the tv and listened to the news. A tsunami was coming to the city, so he went outside to see what was happening and a little rock entered in his right eye causing him a big infection so he tried to go to the hospital but everything was closed so he ran to his cousin´s house and warned him about the katrina so he could get out of the katrina´s way. They hid in an old abandomned bank because it had an underground floor. 3 days later they got aut and everybody was looking for and helping people so they joined the search

As we wake up, we can hear the sound of the emergency alarm beeping. I quickly get up of bed to see what's going on!. I look for my sister, she's still lying in bed, i wake her up, so she can help me in the control room. She woke up as quickly as she could and press the correct button to stop the deafening bipp, she knows more about the control room than me.

What was going on was that we were running out of oxygen, so we needed to connect the new oxygen tank.

We have 5 days left in space until we arrive to earth. We are very excited about arriving.

The day has come, we are having some difficulty with the landing, but as usual my sister gets to solve the problem.

Finally we arrive to earth safe and sound with our mommy waiting for us with delicious sparckly cookies.

The use of technology in education

Hi everybody! I was asked to write about the use of technology in education... so here I am! I’m sorry if you find it a bit long... =P

Technology is not something new in the science of teaching as teachers have been searching in the internet for information for their classes for some years now. Videos are also used since long ago... but technology is something that evolves with huge steps and we can’t just stay behind; we should evolve and interact with it because if we don’t, when we least notice, we will be far behind all the new world. Technology has some disadvantages, but definitely its positive points have much more weight. The secret is to know how to use it in the properly way without falling into the addiction and lack of social events and interpersonal relationships because of it. But that is another topic.

Technology is a very useful tool in terms of education. The teacher can go through the internet to search for information in order to prepare classes as well as students can search for answers for their works. But technology is not only the information we get when doing a click in “search” in the Google toolbar. Technology surrounds us everywhere and is found in absolutely everything we have near. Technology is something that has been evolving since long time ago and nowadays we can’t stay behind because it is the tool of our future.

What would you prefer, the teacher who comes with chalks and talks the whole period, or the one who comes with a laptop, a projector and a screen? Would you prefer the one who writes in the board or the one who types and you read everything in the screen? As a student, I can say that we feel completely attracted when we have those activities that are different from the everyday’s. When we have to go to the lab, to the computer room, or to watch a film, we go with more enthusiasm than to a regular class. So, I think that students try to find more dynamism in the classes; that is the detail that makes the classes far more bearable, interesting, fun and that is a way to get us concentrated and interested in the topic. At least that happened in my school when suddenly a new teacher appeared with a laptop, a projector and a screen every single class (Charlie, you know...). We had to send him our homework via e-mail, he would answer back and suddenly a new relationship teacher-student that we had never thought of started taking place. Interacting with a teacher on line is very different to the regular interaction and with it people show different aspects of their lives that get to know better the other person.

Learning is not always fun, but teachers can make it bearable and really fun some times! Most of the times, if we like or not a subject depends on the teacher, don’t you think so? That means that the teachers with more creativity to teach in a way that interests the students, with dynamism and good methods is the one we will like most.

As technology evolves and advances with huge steps, we have to update with it too. So this year, the blogs and the making of a video were part of the English program at Saint Patrick’s School. Each of the students had to create a blog (my blog) and we write at least twice a week about anything we want for half an hour more or less. We also have a class blog where we find asignments and a school blog also created by ourselves. The making of the video clip consisted in choosing a song each and making the video with pictures from the Internet or taken by us and showing what the song wants to express. My video is about suicide and it has pictures of me too, because the feelings that the song shows – when you watch it you’ll know – are things we all can feel, and in fact, I’ve felt. The song represents me a lot and I felt very identified with it in a period of my life. So here it is:

COMMENT ABOUT THE FIRST TERM AND THE ENGLISH EXPOSITION

I enjoyed the first term of our English classes, despite of the amount of homework we had. The classes were funny but I think we should do more games and one day a week we should take a class for only speaking in English with each other, so we can learn more how to speak fluently. I enjoyed learning new things and It felt good when I progressed with the 1st. exam test.
About the English exposition, I think it was great, 1st because the information was not so difficult for the audience to understand, but also it was not too simple to bore them. And what the people liked the most was watching the presentation in the over-head- proyector and the video about heroes. All the people who watched the presentation thought that it was amazing and I think the expectations were satisfied.

LOST - Season 2

During my winter vacations, I had been watching the second season of this amazing series and... I didn't expect this, but it got even better! I became an addict!! jeje.
It was unbelievable how we could get to know the characters deeply...
The "mystery" was there again (which is actually really good, as that captivate the spectators more and more in every episode). And, of course, this season left me with the mystery in my hands!! Come ooon! the most important characters kidnapped by The Others? my goodness!! I can't wait for next season!!
One particularly thing about this "part 2" that really caught my attention was Michael! I would have never imagined that he would kill someone! or two! je.. But seriously, now I can realize what parents are capable of when the safety of their children is in danger.. I mean, their love is huge! and there we can see that in a really clear way, right? But, If we get to analyze his actions... he wasn't loyal to his friends, because he didn't know what was going to happen with their lives! and he killed two innocent people in order to save someone that he didn't know (maybe he turns out to be a really bad guy!).. But, anyway, and maybe because it's not real life, I see this in the way that this decision was REALLY hard for him to make but he got strength from the love he had for his son.
Maybe we, as teenagers, have to keep in mind that parents love us, and are capable of doing everything for our safety! This is certainly sth that we can take for granted, but have you ever thought about it in a really deep way??

Lost - Second Season

Hello everybody!! i want to tell you that i think that this season is more interesting than the other, because here most of the problems are solved, most of secrets are revealed, and there is more and more mystery!! so you are more anxious about watching the third season.

i couldn't believe that Shannon, Ana Lucia, and Libby had died!! and another VERY important fact is that Michael finally finds Walt, and they have started their way home.. and i think that Michael had made a selfish decision when he made the deal with the "Others" to recover Walt, because Jack, Kate and Sawyer's lives are now in danger!!!

Well in this second season we can see that many changes had been introduced...the raft left into the ocean to found if someone could help them, a hatch is found in the jungle, Walt is kidnapped by te OTHERS - while they are sailing - , Sawyer Michael and Jin arrives to another part of the island where they found the others survivors : the TAILIESTS .... in this group we can see that every character has almost the same characteristis of some of the first group that appear at the island. Nearby the end of the series the 2 groups of survivors gather toguether in the zone were the hatch and the camp is. ( in this transition Shannon is shoot by Ana Lucía, because she thought Shannon was one of the others).

There are too many things to say about this thrilling SECOND SEASON, one of the most gloomy part is when Libby and Ana Lucía are killed by Michael. I was so sad for Hugo that I've been crying all day.

Well this is not all the summary of the second season but some of the most importants parts for me ..

I´m really happy with our english exposition, it was great. the audience made good comments about the presentation and everybody wanted to see it. i think we did a really good work together. To make the presentation in Power Point was a great idea, it was original we also showed videos, and the page of this blog.
I think that the last part (Heroe´s video) was the most emotional part. the people was touched with that.
in conclussion, it was SO great that the teachers asked for other exposition, wich we did a week later. =)

for me the best part of the second seson is when Paulo and Nikki found the diamonds. Nikki dropped the spiders to the floor so that they could paralyse him but they paralysed her. Then the others thought that the were dead so they buried them alive and they dropped the diamonds on the floor and buried them. In the middle of the burial Nikki opened the eyes

Helloo!! i'm Martina..! I have already watched the second season of LOST, and my conclusion is that it was GREAT!

This season has been very interesting. Many problems that appeared in the first season continious in this and some of them are solved. Many important things happened! I think that the most important facts, are that Shannon, Ana Lucia, and Libby had died. Michael finally found Walt and they go back home...at least they are going... In this season we know Hurley's life and his problems at the asylum. Locke found more secrets in the hatch, and with Eko they are trying to found all the answers... The Others appeared and at the end, they made a deal with Michael, and kidnapped Sawyer, Jack, and Kate.

I think these are the most important facts... Now we are waiting to start watching the third season...

I hope we go on watching lost, it's really an excellent series!!

NOW, THE SECOND PART, IS BETTER BECAUSE, SINCE THE ENGLISH FAIR, WE ARE MORE INTERESTED IN THE SUBJECT... WE THINK THAT THE ENGLISH FAIR WAS EXTRAORDINARY. English Exposition!

This English exposition was defenetly better than anyone that we had ever done! It was an unusual idea, completly different than the others that we had ever seen at school. The thematic topic about "HEROES" was really attractive and interesting, we handled it very well by chosing different types of hereos, (from superman to ordinary heroes, like perents!) and by telling people that they have to take out the heroe that they have inside and that by just doing little things we can also be heroes!
Thanks to our new awsome teacher (Miss Alina) we learnt how to make use of tecnloghy in class and that is something that really captivated the attention of the people (but first it captivated us! of course!).
We are really happy with our hard-working job because the audience praised us and they were actually touched! And that's huge! so thanks Miss Alina for your amazing idea, the way you made us handle the theme and for your inconditional support! ;)
We hope next year we can do even better! But for that, we will need YOU, Miss Alina, WITH US! jeje. Will you join us?? :D

hi everybody!! it has been a long time since the last time i posted..

i'm feelin really satisfafied about our english exposition, i can't beleave that we had prepeared it! we learnt to work in group and learnt lots of things that are very important for life. all the time that we have spent in it we have had miss alina's support!! thank you ;)

at the end of the expostion everybody congratulated us, because our work has been the best (up to now) at school's life. the tematic topic "HeRoeS" was really interesting, and showed people that we don't have to have supernatural powers to be a heroe, only with little things we can become someone's heroe!!.. this phrase has an important meaning for everybody..

well, miss alina, i'm been thankfull of heart for your help!!

i hope you will be our teacher nest year too.. i really enjoyed my classes with youu!!

hellooooo..we are facundo and maximo and we are students of pablo apostol school... the second season of the series lost was so great. we saw a lot of things that change the road of the serie, for example :

The losties found another people that also lived in the island.
Appears the people that was in the tail of the plane, that the losties put the name of "tailes"
The others kidnapped Walt.
Michael dissapeard because he went to look for walt.
Rosseau found a person that said that his name was Henry Gale.
He told a false history to Jack, Eko, Kate, Locke and Ana Lucia.
Michael killed Ana Lucia and then he killed himself.
The others took prisioners Jack, Kate and Sawyer

We were cautivated sunspense and we couldn't resist to follow the trama every monday on AXN...

I really enjoyed working with the theme of heroes. What we did in the exposition it was great i have not done anything like that before. It was a nice experience to work with computers and stuff.
I loved watching the series lost, it was a very inovating idea because we weren't used to work like that in the english classes.

Well, i would like you to know that I have really enjoyed the time that we spend together preparing our english exposition. Our hard work and effort gave very good results, I think that it was the best presentation of the history of English Expositions in the school !
In addition, I think that it had join us more like a group. And it is very positive.

Apart, I would like to thank Miss Alina for her patience and her time with us. I hope she had enjoyed her time with us as we did.

Hey miss, class!I created this entrie so we can all post the comments about our FANTASTIC exposition wich integrated tecnology in class and a thematic topic about heroes.
It took plase last thursday in Pablo Apostol's school, and we had all been congratulated by all the teachers and students not only from our school but also from other ones who came to visit us.
I't was the first time in the school that someone prepares an exposition like this, which in my opinion was really interesting as we didn't use the tipical cardboard and didn't said "hardknown" speches...all what we did was to prepared a presentation in power point, a videoclip in movie maker about the song "It's not easy" (Superman's song), and to show all this included our class weblog in a very big screen.
this is really interactive as teenagers are all the time conected to tecnology, they lern more and listen to our "message" as they all thought that this kind of work is far more interesting
i think that from now on, the tipe of expositions in the school are going to be different...
Thank you miss Alina to show us this new world, this new way of learning, and to do all that things that you do for us...we'll always be Miss Alina Followers!!!!!

Evie is the actress that interprets Kate and Dom plays the role of Charlie. They are together since more than two years now. Did you ever imagine? Did you already know? Do you like the couple? Once more, I decided to invade this site in order to add something you might find useful. Well, in fact I have two items to comment about.

I was reading the posts I’ve missed while travelling down South and I thought that maybe you don’t know some terms that exist to abbreviate common phrases and words used regularly. Indeed, I’ve read some of them in here, but I want to add some if you let me. Most of them were created by fans from Lost and were really well accepted by the production of the series. What’s more, the people of the production adopted them as well as we all did! There are a lot of them and some are nonsense, but here I write the most used and common:

Skate: Sawyer and Kate romantic paring and relationship

Jate: Jack and Kate

Jacket: Jack and Juliet

Suliet: Sawyer and Juliet

Sana or Sawyana: Sawyer and Ana Lucía

Karlex: Karl and Alex

There is another point I would like to add. Do you pay attention to the music in the program? Cause I do. And I really like some songs. That is the case with the song “Make Your Own Kind Of Music”. When I listened to it for the first time, on Desmond’s record player, I really liked it! I chose to talk about it because I like it, I have it on my computer, and now I listen to it very often as it is part of an advertisement on TV! I don’t know exactly which, as I am not watching TV whenever it appears and I never pay attention to the advertisement… just to the song!

“Make Your Own Kind Of Music” is very important to the plot of the whole story because of its significance, and it also appears several times. It is from Mama Cass Elliot and is quite old!

Check out the lyrics:

The song appears five times:

1. In Desmond’s record player, in the Swan, when he was exercising before Locke blows up the hatch and makes the needle knock off the record.

2. When Jack enters to the hatch after Kate and John had already gotten down, the song suddenly starts playing when he gets in.

3. In a repeat of this part from another perspective, in the following episode, Desmond is seen playing the song to Jack in order to drown Kate’s cries for help.
4. In the finale scene of season two, while the technicians at the listening station are playing chess, an instrumental version of the song is playing in the background.

5. Desmond hears the song in a bar on his déjà vu. He tells his friend Donovan that with help of the song he could remember what happened that day. He fails when narrating what would happen next, but the following night, when he listens the song, what he had predicted, happen.

The purpose of the song appearing so frequently on the show is to highlight the free will, the destiny we all have to make for ourselves, to make each one its own kind of music. It is a tool of reinforcement on the contradiction between free will vs. destiny, supporting the first one.

In the episode when Desmond has all those déjà vu (4), he is told that the universe has a way of righting itself and fulfilling its intentions, indicating that destiny supersedes, or perhaps works through, free will.

The other scenes when the song is played involve people alone in aisled places (lyrics: “the loneliest kind of lonely”) trying to keep themselves occupied. Like the technicians playing chess (4), Desmond exercising in the hatch (1).

Like this analysis of why choosing that song, why placing it there and things like that, there are a lot!! I’ve also found some symbols and key objects, recurrent patterns, ideas, whatever! That’s what I like from Lost: the analysis we can do, the psychology behind every single detail, and the perfection on everything!

Whatever you might want to comment to me, to ask, to talk a bit about this great show, don’t hesitate and keep in touch! I have also a Mexican friend and we spend hours talking about Lost, giving our opinions, analyzing details, making predictions… I can introduce him to you. He has also been in this blog, and he loved it!

An Interesting Piece of News!

Hi class!

Well, I decided to post because I want to share with you some interesting piece of news that was published in La Gaceta some days before. Perhaps you have already read this , if you did not, it is good for you to know ;)

The article announces that Adrián Suar glides to make an argentine version of the LOST serie.

The attraction that generates "Lost" in the world is total, to such an extent that the producer Adrián Suar glides to buy the format to make an Argentine version of the series, as it had already happened to "Desperate Housewives". And, although greater details are not known, he said that between the actors who could star for the series they find two of the most successful and handsome actors of the national TV: Pablo Echarri and Facundo Arana.

In my opinion, I think that it is a very good idea and it would be a great success, dont you? And I am totally in agreement with the chosen actors too =) I think that Facundo Arana has to be Sawyer because they have similar styles.

And about the female roles...which actress do you think must be Kate?

Los rayos del sol abrazaban la siesta tucumana, quizás para consolarla por el frío polar de la semana pasada. El portón verde de metal, es muy diferente al que hace ocho años dejé de cruzar. El colegio está igual, pese a que me pareció más grande. Había caras institucionales y conocidas, pero yo seguía siendo una extraña. Las nuevas generaciones ni me registraban.

Crucé la galería y entré a una de las aulas donde alguna vez tuve clases. Uno de mis antiguos profesores, Carlos Lizárraga, Coordinador del departamento de Inglés del secundario del Colegio San Patricio, daba la lección a ocho chicos, que conforman la clase A2.
Nosotros éramos revoltosos, incluso tuvimos que firmar un contrato para comprometernos a hablar en inglés, toda la hora. A estos chicos, en cambio, se les escapa el inglés por lo poros. No podía sacarme la sensación de que estaba todo igual, pero distinto. Incluso, una de las chicas tenía una computadora portátil, algo impensado en mi época, en la que muchas veces tuve que pedirle la PC a mi vecina. Y para colmo, tampoco existe el quinto año, es tercero del Polimodal.
Pero como todo cambia, lo que no se adapta muere. Quizás por este motivo o por la predisposición e inquietud de Lizárraga, este puñado de adolescentes, de tercero de Polimodal, se embarcó en el desafío de usar blogs para hacer tareas de inglés.
“Entré en la blogsfera, luego de leer un artículo del New York Times. Me pareció un gran canal de enseñanza. Ayuda a liberar la escritura. Además, los chicos leen más, porque necesitan hacerlo para poder escribir y porque visitan otros blogs. Me han sorprendido. Hay chicos que lograron cosas increíbles. Por otro lado, para comunicarme con el departamento de Inglés ya no uso papel, es todo a través del blog del colegio”, sostiene Lizárraga, que trabaja con las profesoras Cecilia Galván y Alina Terán en este proyecto.
El profesor explica que la mayoría de los alumnos tiene computadoras en su casa, pero que implementó el mismo sistema en el Instituto Terciario Lola Mora y en la UNSTA, donde también enseña, y asegura que los chicos hacen los trabajos en ciber o en el laboratorio de informática de la universidad. “El uso de la bitácoras es tan simple, que mientras van a chequear los mails los pueden actualizar”, dice el profesor.
“Tenía un fotolog, pero esta metodología me enseñó a usar los blogs de una forma nueva y aprender inglés de una manera más actual, más divertida”, afirma Valentina Becker (17), quien quiere estudiar Diseño Gráfico.
“No me resulta fácil escribir y este medio te ayuda a soltarte. Es un desafío. Tenemos que escribir dos veces por semana sobre cosas que hacemos en clase o sobre una lista de 70 temas que tenemos asignada. Todos los domingos el profesor nos deja un comentario en el trabajo que subimos, así controla que cumplamos”, explica Valentina Marún (16), que aspira a seguir Diseño Industrial.
“Los blogs permiten una comunicación más fluida con los chicos. A la vez, que permite un conocimiento integral del alumno, mediante sus perspectivas. El objetivo es desarrollar en ellos el pensamiento crítico y la creatividad”, afirma Lizárraga
El profesor, junto a sus colaboradoras, planea presentar el trabajo, acerca del proyecto, en el congreso de la Federación de Asociaciones de Profesores de Inglés, que se desarrollarán el 20, 21 y 22 Septiembre en Jujuy.

During the holidays I happened to watch a fantastic episode from this tv series: LOST on AXN. From that day onwards I became an addict to it. I also heard that this tv series is very popular in the USA since there are web pages and blogs were spectators discuss the different episodes and even analyse the psychological profiles of the main characters.

I will be showing you the 3 first episodes of the first season and I would like you to write some comments about them.
